Had the chance to try out BRC GastroPub in the Washington Corridor area of Houston last night. It very much hit the spot.
Let’s start off by saying that I was starving upon arrival, so everything on the menu sounded very appetizing. However when I asked the server about the “Original Burger Bowl”, I immediately said “YEP GET ME ONE OF THOSE”. The waiter described it as a deconstructed burger. First a layer of Iceberg lettuce topped with ranch dressing. Next a layer of fries (the perfect shoe string type that I love) with melted queso cheese. On top of that there were two burger patties and two eggs (your choice of how you want it cooked). Man was it good, and it definitely hit the spot. Mixed in with all of that were red onions, tomatoes, and jalapenos. Mouth watering all over again.
To start off the meal, I shared a biscuit with bacon jam. The biscuit was just how you’d like it – warm and flaky. As for the bacon jam…I could have just drank the entire cup. It was heavenly.
My date ordered the Mac and Cheese of the week, which was a Philly Cheese steak inspired mac. It had skirt steak, green peppers, red peppers, and sauteed onions in it. Wow was that good too. I was secretly jealous watching him eat it, but I don’t regret the burger one bit :). Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to snag a picture. You’ll just have to go there and eat it yourself!
Can’t wait to go back and try something new off the menu! Also their waitstaff was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. I would definitely go back.
